A Winter Without Snow: Sunshine Awaits in the Riviera Nayarit

Nov 26, 2025 Blog Icon Category: Lifestyle
As the first frosts start to paint rooftops white across much of the world, here by the Pacific, our beaches stay kissed by sunlight. The mornings are bright, the ocean sings its steady lullaby, and the palms sway as if winter never learned our name. In Nuevo Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, we celebrate this season not with scarves and mittens, but with sandals, sunhats, and a glass raised to golden days.

Mexico’s warmest winter escape

Along the coast of the Riviera Nayarit, winter arrives softly, bringing cooler breezes and endless blue skies. This stretch of coastline offers something rare: warmth, light, and the freedom to enjoy it all. Two of its most beloved beach destinations, Nuevo Nayarit and Punta de Mita, are treasures where every sunset invites you to stay a little longer.

What winter feels like in the Riviera Nayarit

In Punta de Mita, temperatures begin to soften around November, and by December the region settles into its most pleasant months of the year. From December through March, mornings greet you with a cool ocean breeze and afternoons invite you to wander barefoot along the shore. It is the heart of the dry season, so rainfall is rare. Travelers arriving from the United States or Canada often find themselves sighing in relief as they trade snowflakes for salt air.

Shorts and swimsuits remain part of the dress code, though a light jacket comes in handy for evening strolls beneath the stars. After the fall rains wash away the heat of summer, winter brings clarity… the kind that inspires long walks and outdoor adventures.

Where to stay for winter in Punta de Mita

Perched above a golden beach, Armony Resort - MGallery Collection is a haven where nature and wellness intertwine. Here, the air feels softer, the views wider, and the days flow with an easy rhythm. Guests of all ages find something to savor: yoga by the ocean, peaceful nature walks, and evenings of fine dining.

This winter, Armony Resort - MGallery Collection becomes even more magical. Thanksgiving brings a serene dinner at La Brise, followed by our Winter Solstice Escape on December 21, a night of outdoor meditation, sound baths, and a Cosmic Ceremony to welcome the new season. Christmas here shines with festive menus, a heartwarming show, and a joyful after-party. Then, as the year closes on New Year’s Eve, we greet midnight under the theme Midnight Sparkle, with a gala dinner, live music, and fireworks in the tropical night sky.

Just up the coast, two sister resorts share the same sun yet offer beautifully different experiences.

At Marival Distinct Handwritten Collection, every suite feels like a home away from home, spacious and elegant, perfect for gathering loved ones. With one- to four-bedroom suites and an oceanfront beach club, it is an invitation to savor the season surrounded by those who matter most. Winter highlights include a Thanksgiving dinner at Omaggio, Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve, a four-course Christmas feast at Mozzamare Beach Club, and a dazzling New Year’s Eve celebration by the sea.

Next door, Marival Emotions Resort by Mercure bursts with joy for families and guests of all ages. Days fill with laughter and endless sunshine along the golden beach. This winter, the fun continues with a Thanksgiving buffet, poolside fun on Christmas Eve, a magical Christmas show where Santa appears with gifts, and a New Year’s Eve celebration filled with fireworks, music, and cheer.

The beauty of traveling in winter

Escaping the cold is only the beginning. Traveling in winter means trading icy roads for warm sand beneath your feet and letting someone else handle all the details. Here are a few reasons guests fall in love with winter in paradise:

  • No cold to chase away: The days are bright and the evenings mild, so you can keep your swimsuits and sandals close at hand.
  • Festive celebrations everywhere: Resorts come alive with themed dinners, live shows, and joyful events for the holidays.
  • Effortless relaxation: Instead of cooking or cleaning, you simply arrive, unwind, and let the resort prepare all the celebrations.
  • Plenty of sunshine and sea air: Short days and gray skies feel far away when every morning begins by the ocean, giving a boost to your mood and your well-being in the middle of the winter season.

The days stretch long and every evening ends with that peaceful feeling that only vacation brings.

Until we meet in paradise this winter…

So, as snow begins to fall elsewhere, remember there is another kind of winter waiting here. One filled with sunshine, ocean breezes, and the laughter of those who chose warmth instead of frost. At Marival Resorts, we are ready to welcome you home to the beach, to good food, to good company, and to a season that stays golden.
